Zuio-ji Zen Buddhist temple. You may need to speak Japanese to arrange things and to communicate with the monks while there. People state it is the best experience they have had in Japan. They ask for a recommended donation of ¥2,000, you sleep in your own room and eat vegetarian monk-style food. The monks will teach you the proper way to meditate and at 5am you will eat breakfast with them and participate in chanting and zazen. If you want a less touristy experience and are interested in religion or Japanese culture, it's definitely worth looking into. Details from http://www.sotozen-net.or.jp/kokusai/list/zuioji.htm
